Syberia 2 for nintendo switch review9/12/2023 I enjoyed the heck out of it for a few hours, personally. Overall, I would highly recommend this game to anyone that enjoys puzzle solving, mystery, or games that just have great atmosphere. The graphics are pretty archaic but also fit the game/atmosphere quite nicely, it has stood the test of time. Occasionally I also wouldn’t realize that I could go to a new area from a certain screen because the scenery wasn’t obvious enough.Īside from that, the controls are pretty abysmal, but hey.it’s a point and click ported to a console, so that’s on me. Occasionally, there are also items you are supposed to pick up that you can’t see very well or the indicator icon only appears if you approach an item or area very precisely. There was also a puzzle where I had the right idea but there was a sequencing error in the game that made me have to look it up. Gamers who grew up on these sorts of point-and-click adventure. Many of the puzzles were very satisfying - once all of the pieces of a particular area start coming together, it’s really fun to start putting them all into place.Īs for the negatives - some of the puzzles were also a tad too cryptic for my tastes - so don’t be afraid to use a guide. The Nintendo DS' intuitive stylus controls make it seem like a perfect platform for the revival of the classic adventure genre. It has some pretty good voice acting, cool environments, funny characters, cool settings, the whole nine yards. If you are into atmospheric experiences, this game is fantastic in that regard - nearly unrivaled. I also like playing diverse genres and I’ve never actually played a point and click. So I was looking for puzzle games on the Nintendo Switch and came across this one and its sequel for about $5 total, and said “what the hell.” It seemed like a classic and had some pretty good Metacritic scores.
